Q&A with Account Executive, Erin Carey.
For the month of March, we got to sit down and learn about Erin Carey. Erin is an account executive and oversees the Amazon business tradeshows.
Tell us about a typical day in the life of Erin
Weekdays I wake up early and see my oldest daughter (I have 2 daughters, ages 15 and 12) off to school. I get my other daughter up and we get ready for the day. I take my dog for a quick walk and then I take my younger daughter to school.
Then, I head to work. On the way to work I always make a stop for tea (I’m not a coffee drinker but I LOVE tea, iced or hot). At work, I spend my day handling logistics for Amazon Business tradeshows. This could be researching shows, overseeing contract fulfillment, booth set-up, sponsorship details, putting through work orders, meetings, calls with the client or vendors and a lot of emails.
After work I go home and have dinner with my daughters. Usually there is homework to help with and other things to do to get ready for the next day. On days I don’t have my daughters I spend time with my fiancé, John and friends. I finish the day with another dog walk.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
That’s hard to say, I like a lot of different things about my job. I’m very much a process person, and my job requires to be very detail-oriented so I have a lot checklists to make sure that nothing is missed. I realize this might not seem like a favorite thing to most people but I love checking tasks off my lists. I also really enjoy my co-workers, they make the environment fun. Between my busy days and my work friendships, the days go by fast, which I like.
What are you most excited about regarding the future of Elevation?
I would say that I’m most excited about the growth of the company and the talent that is joining the agency. Everyone brings so much experience and it’s fun to watch us expand.
What’s one important tip you would share with anyone looking to go into the agency world?
This is my first agency, so I would say to talk to a variety of people that have agency experience so you can get some insight on what it’s like. Another tip would be to stay away from the snacks!
What is something about you that may surprise us?
When I was in my 20s I traveled through Europe for six weeks with two of my friends. One of our stops was Germany and I scooped up a piece of the Berlin wall as a souvenir.
If you could live in a TV show, book, or movie, which one would you pick?
I guess I would say a Hallmark movie, especially one that involves a baking competition. I’m a romantic (that might be a surprise), I love the idea of a happy ending.
